Wilhelm von Humboldt: Schriften ist eine unabhängige digitale Edition zur Erschließung und Vermittlung des Werkes Wilhelm von Humboldts.
Ziel der Plattform ist es, Humboldts Schriften nicht nur zugänglich, sondern auch durchsuchbar, kontextualisiert und wissenschaftlich nutzbar zu machen: für Forschung, Studium, Schule und eine interessierte Öffentlichkeit.
Die Edition ist langfristig angelegt, wächst Stück für Stück und versteht sich von daher bewusst als work in progress.
Die Schriften Wilhelm von Humboldts sind bis heute nur schwer zugänglich.
Viele Originalmanuskripte wurden im Zweiten Weltkrieg zerstört oder beschädigt. Die Leitzmann-Edition (1903-1920) ist die zentrale Referenz, liegt jedoch nur als gescannte und kaum durchsuchbare PDF-Version vor. Die Studienausgabe der WBG (1960–1981) bietet zudem nur eine begrenzte Textauswahl und ist nicht frei zugänglich.
Im Vergleich zu anderen Klassikern wie Goethe oder Kant existiert bislang keine moderne, frei zugängliche digitale Gesamtedition Humboldts.
Diese Plattform reagiert auf genau diese Lücke: Sie macht Humboldts Werk im digitalen Raum wieder sichtbar, und zwar als lebendige, vernetzte und nutzerfreundliche Edition.
Wilhelm von Humboldt: Schriften entstand im Herbst 2024 als privates Editionsprojekt. Ausgangspunkt war die Beobachtung, dass Humboldts Schriften trotz ihrer großen wissenschaftlichen Bedeutung bis heute nur schwer digital zugänglich sind.
Die Edition wurde von der Kuratorin eigenständig in ihrer Freizeit aufgebaut. Mithilfe von TEI Publisher sowie den Tutorials, Blogbeiträgen und der persönlichen Unterstützung der e-editiones-Community entstand zunächst eine einfache statische Website, die im Mai 2025 online ging. Seitdem hat sich das Projekt schrittweise zu einer dynamischen digitalen Edition mit Volltextsuche, Registern, Facetten und weiteren Forschungswerkzeugen entwickelt.
Im November 2025 wurde das Projekt auf dem Community-Meeting von e-editiones vorgestellt. Die Präsentation (auf Englisch) gibt einen Überblick über die digitale Edition, erläutert ihre methodischen Grundlagen und zeigt, wie das Projekt entstanden ist.

Die Edition ist in die Text+-Forschungsdateninfrastruktur eingebunden und im Metakorpus Historische Korpora registriert. Über diese Kooperation ist das Korpus auch in der DTA/DWDS-Infrastruktur zugänglich.
Silvia Berigüete Pastor (2000-) studierte Philosophie an der Universidad Autónoma de Madrid sowie Klassische Philologie und Sinologie an der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg.
Ihre Forschung über Wilhelm von Humboldt begann sie 2020 während ihrer Tätigkeit als Forschungsassistentin am Philosophischen Seminar an der Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Von 2021 bis 2025 war sie Teaching Assistant am Lehrstuhl für Epistemology and Theory of Science am University College Freiburg. Derzeit arbeitet sie in Spanien als Gymnasiallehrerin.
Angesichts ihres akademischen und persönlichen Hintergrunds überrascht es kaum, dass ihr Leben von Mehrsprachigkeit, Reisen und Interdisziplinarität geprägt ist. In dieser Hinsicht fühlt sie sich Wilhelm von Humboldt besonders verbunden.
Die Plattform wird derzeit vollständig privat finanziert. Es besteht keine institutionelle Förderung.
Die laufenden Kosten betragen unter 10 € im Jahr.

Wilhelm von Humboldt: Schriften is an independent digital scholarly edition dedicated to the exploration and presentation of the works of Wilhelm von Humboldt.
The aim of the platform is to make Humboldt’s writings not only accessible, but also searchable, contextualised, and academically usable – for research, teaching, education, and a wider interested public.
The edition is designed as a long-term project, it grows little by little and is, subsequently, to be understood as a work in progress
The writings of Wilhelm von Humboldt remain difficult to access today.
Many original manuscripts were destroyed or damaged during the Second World War. The Leitzmann edition (1903) remains the central reference, but is only available as scanned, barely searchable PDFs. The WBG scholarly edition (1960–1981) provides only a limited selection of texts and is not freely accessible.
Compared to other canonical authors such as Goethe or Kant, there is still no modern, openly accessible digital complete edition of Humboldt’s works.
This platform responds to that gap: it seeks to make Humboldt’s work visible again in the digital sphere: as a living, interconnected, and user-friendly edition.
Wilhelm von Humboldt: Schriften began in autumn 2024 as an independent digital editing project. It grew out of the observation that, despite their scholarly importance, Humboldt's writings remain surprisingly difficult to access in digital form.
The edition has been developed independently in the curator's spare time. Using TEI Publisher, together with tutorials, documentation, and mentoring provided by the e-editiones community, an initial static website was launched in May 2025. Since then, the project has gradually evolved into a dynamic digital edition featuring full-text search, registers, faceted browsing, and other research tools.
In November 2025, the project was presented at the e-editiones Community Meeting. The talk (in English) introduces the digital edition, outlines its methodological framework, and reflects on how the project emerged, as well as on practical challenges.

The edition is integrated into the Text+ research data infrastructure and registered in the Metacorpus Historical Corpora. Through this cooperation, the corpus is also accessible via the DTA/DWDS infrastructure.

She began working on Wilhelm von Humboldt in 2020 while employed as a research assistant at the Department of Philosophy at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. From 2021 to 2025, she worked as a teaching assistant at the Chair of Epistemology and Theory of Science at University College Freiburg. She currently works as a secondary-school teacher in Spain.
Given her academic and personal background, it is perhaps no wonder that her life has been shaped by multilingualism, travel, and interdisciplinarity. In that regard, she feels a particular connection to Wilhelm von Humboldt.
The platform is currently fully self-funded and has no institutional support.
